You may not know who Carol “Butterfli Tia” Dunkley is but you will soon enough. In fact the budding entrepreneur and socialite is making it her goal to make sure that the public knows about more entrepreneurs and amazing people who do great things behind the scenes. Dunkley created the Unlabelled Award to honor the stars behind the scenes who are making an imprint in our lives without our notice. From the creator of Instagram and Snapchat to the producers and songwriters who create the memorable songs on our playlist and the stylists and make-up artists who keep our favorite stars shining–the unlabelled awards recognizes them all.
“There are women and men who work tirelessly behind the scenes to create the finished products that we all marvel about,” said Dunkley. “Im honoring them in New York during fashion week and Atlanta. So many beautiful people are responsible for the end results of the things we love. It could be a look, music, a film, a song, a T.V show– whatever it is, it requires the labor of love from an individual that may never get credit or be recognized in the limelight.
These people are designers, make-up artists, techies, publicists, songwriters, media people, stylists the list goes on and on. I think it’s a little disheartening that they must always remain in the shadow of oblivion or in the background that many never get access to. What I wanted to do is celebrate all of these people. They deserve an award and their own moment in time,” explained Dunkley.
